QSLA is excited to announce a NEW series of 10 courses on Promoting Language, Literacy, and Learning for Dual Language Learners! This series has been developed to assist teachers in supporting our youngest dual language learners. The series will address a range of curriculum areas including play, math, culture, and many more. Check out the courses below and click the button to register!
Courses can be taken in any order and Professional Development credit will be given upon completion of each course.

In this course, participants will examine the science behind dual language learning. It is important for ECE educators to understand how and why the early years are a critical time for language and literacy development for young dual-language learners. Participants will also examine the importance of early experiences in supporting early brain architecture for dual language learners.

In this course, participants will review definition of bilingualism and other related key terms. It is important for ECE educators to understand bilingualism and the process for children learning more than one language. Participants will identify the benefits of bilingualism when languages learned are being consistently used and supported in the child’s home and school setting.

This DLL Initiative Family Workshop helps families better understand common myths about raising multi-lingual children, facts, research and benefits of being bilingual, and provides opportunities to hear and learn from the experiences of other families raising dual language learners.

This DLL Initiative Family Workshop helps families better understand different strategies for raising a bilingual child, the stages of language and social emotional development for young dual language learners, and tips and ideas for supporting their young DLLs at home.

This DLL Initiative Family Workshop helps families learn more about Dual Immersion or Dual Language Education programs (K-12), best practices of early learning programs that support multi-lingual learners, and ways families and teachers can partner to support children’s culture and language development.

We know that teaching multilingual children is multifaceted, and that language is vital to communication and building relationships. And yet, ease of language is a challenge when multilingual children and families need to be fluent in English to engage in classroom. This webinar will examine teaching techniques that promote inclusion and a sense of belonging, resulting in better learning outcomes for children and deeper engagement with families. The presenter will share ideas from her book Dual-Language Learners: Strategies for Teaching English, and participants will gain practical tips and valuable tools they can use in their work with young children and their families.
